Community's Historian

It started with a team working to understanding different cultures so they could find common ground and facilitate the diplomats' job. As years turned into decades and more worlds and cultures joined the Enlightened Worlds Community, their studies on what could be considered anthropology turned into something more complex.

Perception

Purpose

Even as every Enlightened society still knows them as historians, they can work in any field of research and science.   Their main goal is the same as it always was: to understand each culture and their struggles, and keep a detailed base of knowledge that allow the Community to help different worlds to coexist, but part of that coexistence is now growing and facing adversity using the common knowledge and specific resources.   Their records also help to keep track of threats in different environments, and even to understand civilizations that try to disrupt peace. This way, the Peacekeepers can develop better strategies to deal with that or avoid conflicts they cannot resolve.

Social Status

Respected among other scientist and academics, as well as among other members of the Community, they have the best resources possible in the laboratories and are usually welcome (or at least tolerated) in most Enlightened worlds.   As they work, doors are usually opened for them, even when their current project is not related to the Community. Once they retired, if they don't have family and resources of their own, they are usually supported by their own society or another they helped. If that isn't the case, the Community will step up.   On the other hand, they face trouble when it comes with interaction with Community detractors, who may turn violent against them is given the chance.

Career

Career Progression

Depending on the area of work, there may or may not be ranks to consider. Those will have different requirements that can't always be acquired while working in the inferior levels but require specific training. Others, are granted after a while on the job.   Many of the positions are actually independent of ranks or formation. Any historian can lead a research project as long as they manage to get the approval of a laboratory, which is often done by proving that the job is realizable and they have the skills or the data to do it.

External Researchers

Many scientist and academics from other worlds have worked with the Community's historians teams for a specific project, and even conduct their own research with the support of a Laboratory, without becoming part of the team for the long term. They usually see their careers improved in their own country or world, and count with many of the social perks an official historian would receive.
