Unton

Spooktober 2022, Prompt 03: Abandoned

Content Warning: Massacre
Unton was a small village in Ecarus Kingdom which was sieged in 422 CE by the forces of Conrad Blazebrand and ultimately left for nature to reclaim.

Siege Aftermath

When the siege finally succeeded and the gates were opened, the residents of Unton were slaughtered mercilessly. The mangled bodies of men, women, and children alike littered the streets. Any who fought back were strung upon poles and burned.

When the horrors finally ended, not a single villager was left alive. Their corpses were buried in unmarked mass graves just outside the village. The location of these graves are only known from the soldiers' own accounts.

The homes of the massacred villagers were used as bases as the impending invasion of Erego was planned. Once the invasion took place, the village was vacated. To the modern day, the village of Unton remains nothing more than shells of buildings wrapped in vines and overgrown with grasses.
