The Creation of Kithea
In the beginning, there were two. Themos and Odes - the goddess of industry and the god of nature - shaped Kithea from the void. Rich in life and beauty and ore and energy, a place of harmony and vitality and potential, Kithea was made for us: Odesite and Themosian together would inherit this world.
From the Cradle Star in the heavens above Odes brought forth his children: to protect the forests he brought forth the Elves, full of his grace. To inhabit the hills he brought forth the Halflings, blessed in his alacrity. To tame the plains and fields he brought forth the Humans, gifted with his ambition. To these his firstborn he gave dominion over the fruits of his creation.
Likewise Themos brought forth from the Cradle Star her own children - children charged not with stewardship, but with exploitation; children to take of Kithea's bounty and create of their own artifice. And for a time there was peace, and aside from their children Odes brought forth many other creatures to inhabit the world, as did Themos.
Conflict was born between the children of Odes and the children of Themos - Odesites sought to protect what Themosians would exploit. From conflict was born violence, and violence brought war, and war brought devastation. The children of Themos sowed destruction among the children of Odes, and Odes intervened on behalf of his people.
Odes and Themos came again to Kithea in flesh and form, not to create but to destroy. Champions of their people they chose to be, wrestling in the seas until a victor should arise. The strength of Odes's resolve and the fire of Themos's passion were well-matched, and there would not be a victor. In the treachery of her people, Themos bled Odes's life into the seas. In the strength of his compassion, Odes wounded Themos beyond healing. Odes and Themos died in the seas, and their children retreated in anguish.
Before he was no more, Odes called for peace. With the last of his strength, he called forth the Omnideion to shepherd his children, and bid them to keep holy from the children of Themos. The elves once more protect the forests, the halflings inhabit the hills, and the humans tame the plains and fields. To Odes be glory and honor forever.
