Elf
Of the two surviving races on Kitcodeia, the Elves are the most reclusive, dwelling only in places where Humans do not.
Their different physiology allow them to live in places with conditions that Humans would not be able to survive, such as extreme cold, heat, and even underwater. (There is even a notable case of an Elven city inside the inner rim of a volcano)
Though separated across great distances, the Elvish people are ruled by an Empress or Emperor, a title that is not hereditary but is passed to the next eldest elf.
The Elves are a peaceful people and as an empire do not keep a standing army. However, individual rulers are free to defend their people in any way they see fit.
Basic Information
Anatomy
At a surface level, their anatomy is very similar to that of humans, so much so that at a distance they could easily be mistaken for one. On closer (external) inspection, one would see that their average height is what would be considered tall for a Human. Their skin tones are another of their more notable features; because they live in more extreme conditions than Humans, their skin reflects that. For example, Elves living in climates with extreme heat will have skin many shades darker than that of a dark-skinned human. The same applies to Elves living in climates with extreme cold; their skin is paler than any Humans. There is some speculation surrounding whether this a product of some form of natural camouflage or merely a result of the extreme temperatures Elves have a tendency to dwell in.
Yet another feature unique to Elven physiology are their ears. While many have long sweeping pointed ears, others have shorter, yet still pointed, ears. The size range is typically between 10 and 20 centimetres, with outliers tending to have larger ears rather than shorter ones.
Not much is known on the internal differences between Humans and Elves, at least among Human scholars. It is assumed that there are differences in their nervous systems and internal organs as they are able to survive in places that Human would deem unlivable. I suspect these differences allow them to need much less air than Humans and allows them to tolerate higher and lower temperatures than the Human body could even dream of.
