The Eastern Coast Rainlands

The Eastern Coast Rainlands is a region covering a large portion of the east coast of the Second World. Despite covering over a thousand kilometers of coastline, the region is extremely sparsely populated due to its horrific conditions. Several factors have lead the rainlands to earn their name, the first and foremost being the constant, near-endless rainfall. While rainfall isn't truly never-ending, it can certainly seem that way for those unlucky enough to find themselves inside it. Entire weeks can go by with storms growing stronger and weaker with time, but never truly stopping. Any reprieve from the weather is brief, and is usually taken as an excuse to finally find an escape for anyone trapped there.   Whether this is the result of a curse, or simply natural weather conditions, has been lost to time, and many have theorized one or the other over the centuries.

Geography

The rainlands' nature has left it a marsh, with many dozens of large rivers being made as a result of the constant rain. The more western regions of the rainlands tend towards forested, smaller hills contrasting the flat terrain of the coastline. When it isn't raining or snowing, the rainlands stay extremely misty and foggy. It has been said that entire years go by without a single sunny day anywhere in the region. During the summers, the air stays a frustrating mix of cold and humid. While the region's constant updraft has left its winters are shorter than even some lands south of it, the winter is still nothing short of painful as well. Temperatures drop several degrees over the course of a few days and the constant rain is replaced with mildly less constant snowfall.   Despite the hellish nature of the rainlands, they maintain a twisted natural beauty, the always-dark clouds hang over the region in a way that is as comforting as it is foreboding.

Fauna & Flora

Beneath all of the clouds lies a green, marshy region. The plants and animals that survive are among the toughest in the world, as is needed for such hellish conditions. Most animal life in the rainlands is amphibious, the land is favorite among turtles, frogs, newts. Due to the lack of human habitation, and extreme isolation the rainlands have become a major hotspot for all sorts of spirits and fairies, many of whom work to perpetuate the poor weather even further to continue the isolation of the land.   Some mammals, such as deer, bears and others have managed to make the region their home, adapting to it remarkably well. Wolves and Dire Wolves have been known to live as well. It is alleged that many unknown monsters live in these regions as well, though claims can be doubtful at times, it's possible that those who've seen them simply haven't lived to tell the tale. Some have even claimed that these beasts are the twisted creations of fairies, others say that they are simply the type of monster such dangerous conditions breed.
