Meroot

Meroot is an expensive and rare form of incense highly prized by clergy. It can be found throughout Pyroeis, though it commonly found near other deposits of meroot (usually within a 3-mile radius).    Gathering meroot can be very dangerous as it attracts dragons, who also prize it highly, though they do not gather it into their lairs. The presence of meroot in a place, especially when at its most potent, is a very good sign of the presence of a dragon.   The origin of meroot is unknown.

Cultural Significance and Usage

It is not uncommon for the priest of a temple to have a small amount of meroot on hand for extremely complex rituals, as it brings the favor of the gods and smooths over mistakes the priest might make (adding +2 to their religious ritual).

Refinement

There are two ways to prepare Meroot, it can be compressed into sticks or mixed with flammable oil. Which form is kept by any specific sect is determined by the preference of their deity.
