Bloodmage - Self sacrifice
Career
Qualifications
To qualify as a blood magic of the self sacrifical kind is rather easy. One needs only pick up a knife, have a very high pain tolerance and little fear and hesitation. One also needs knowledge about bloodrunes, though no affinity for the arcane is required at all for it's practice. It's however recomended that any bloodmage has a good sense of both first aid, preferably even surgery and anatomy as the first attempt of bloodmagic can easily turn into the last one if the practicer lacks a good idea of what they are doing.
Career Progression
While most states and kingdoms would never give a bloodmage any form of titles or tutelage, the creed of self sacrifical bloodmagic goes long and far, being an art taught even from the most remote locations of Peregon, to the depths of the elven realms, to even the far reaches away in hell.
It is recommended that any would be bloodmage seeks out a proper master, rather than carve themselves up on kitchen knives. Thus goes the different titles, apprentice for anyone who just beggins their training, accolyte for those who are competent in the art, though by no means skilled. Someone who is more skilled in the art is considered a magus, while a professional in the art is considered a master.
The title of novice also exist, although they are specific for those who manage to tutor themselves in the arts, hence considered an inbetween of apprentice and accolyte.
Payment & Reimbursement
Most Bloodmages have to sell their services as mercenaries, or take contracts based on healings or exorcism on people too far gone for the holier arts to save. Hence a bloodmage can be anything from a peasant barely surviving from scraps, to filthy rich depending on who their clientele is.
Other Benefits
While many scoff at self sacrifical bloodmages, both those who considers it an evil art or those bloodmagi who considers them cowards or pretend goody-two-shoes, self sacrifical bloodmagic is the most powerfull form of bloodmagic, even though it takes the most both of time and practice, with the requirement of constant upgrades of the bloodstone and Bloodrunes to become powerfull, a single self sacrifical bloodmage far trumps a single sacrifical one.
Operations
Tools
Bloodstones work as a container for lifeforce to be gathered and stored to later usage. The sacrifical knife does pretty much what it's name implies. The Demonbane is a backup blade used for combat, meant to rip the very soul out of demonic entities or sometimes in utility from victims without killing them.

Legality
Self sacrifical Bloodmagic is legal outside of densly populated towns and cities as it's seen as highly taboo but none can question the efficency of healing the art has, so as long as it's only the users blood being spent for it's rites many see it as an evil necessity to cope with. Though it often happens that guards look the other way when a sacrifical bloodmage is attacked in the street. Often to the problem for the bandit, rather than the bloodmage.
