Anointment

There is one tree in the center of the Sandscouter that seems dead. It is twisted and gnarled, and it's branches are bare. It is heavily protected despite this however, with temple guards on each corner, and a large fence surrounding it's base.
This tree is known as the First Niparon, and believed to be the first tree to produced the niparo fruit by those within the kingdom. For those who live within the kingdom, they are lucky to see it come to life once in their lives.
The moment the tree blooms, the doors to the kingdom are shut, not allowing anyone in or out. Celebrations begin the same day, as folk make large amounts of food to be shared.
When the sun goes down, the temple doors are sealed with all the Temple Leaders sealed inside, with only limited supplies. They have a week, until the tree's bloom turn into fruit, to decide the next Priest. The Anointment has officially begun.
A few factors go into the decision. A Priest should be intelligent, kind and spiritual. They will be the leader of the Kingdom during their time, and need to be the example of piousness. They must be young, as the longer the Priest lives the more "glorious the Kingdom shall become".
They final decision comes down to a vote. Once the vote is tallied, the temple doors reopen. Guards are sent to escort the Priest to the temple. As they step into the threshold, the niparo is harvested, making it as fresh as possible.
The Priest is taken to the special chambers. In the first, there is a large bath made of silver. Servants crush the fresh niparo, collecting all it's juice. The Priest sits in the bath, and the juice is poured over them. The Priest is left alone, and the door closed. In the next few hours, legend tells that they will hear the direct word of God, and be clear directions for their time as the Priest.
Once the sun has come down, the Priest is lifted from the bath, sapped of energy. They are covered in the tapestries that adorn the walls, and placed on a bed to sleep.
The next morning, the Priest is taken to the second chamber. The room is full of jars of oil, each containing a sacred oil collected from a plant that grows within the kingdom. The Priest is stripped naked, and piece by piece is covered with the oils, only a small spoonful for each oil. As this occurs, those within the city line up at the walls of the temple, taking turns shouting into holes in the walls. Each hole has a tunnel leading to the room the Priest is in, so they may hear the wants and needs of the people they are serving.
Once the Priest has been completely covered in oil, they are taken into the final room, and the temple is sealed off once again. During this time the Priest is given teachings and takes the time to prepare for their time as a leader. Once the twentieth day has passed the temple is opened up, and the Priest is the first to exit, and greet their people face on for the first time. Once their speech is finished, they are taken to the public square to hear the speeches of the temple leaders, and take their position as an official Priest.
