Color

Common Gahúd

This is the normal color from the butterfly, it is very blue after the just came out of their cocoon. But slowly changes into white how older the get.

Kisama Gahúd

For some unknown reason the Gahúds around Kisama have purple wings and stays purple until their death.

Anatomy

Gahúd is an insect with four bright-colored wings and six legs

Genetics and Reproduction

When a Gahúd finds a mate, he/she sticks to this mate all its life. Every first day of spring the female lays twenty eggs and the male fertilizes them. When the first caterpillar baby comes out he/she eat first his own egg and then that of his brothers and sisters.

Growth Rate & Stages

After the eggs are laid, it takes two weeks for the first eggs hatches. Only the first one who comes out of his/her egg survives.   In two months the caterpillar eats ten times his own weight every day. After a two-month growth period, the caterpillar spins a silken cocoon around itself. In two moths the caterpillar changes into a butterfly.

Ecology and Habitats

The caterpillar is found in the Wisteria trees, they don't eat the flowers, but the rest of the leaves. But the butterflies are found everywhere.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The butterflies eating almost every piece of fabric, except silk.    Maybe they smell their own kind on the fabric, or their own cocoon.
