The Tor'Axian Vessel
At the peak of the Bakkenroth Empire, a grand machine was created to honour the Under Architect, father of the dwarves. Tor 'Axian the chief engineer of the artefact's construction wanted to create an arcane construct able to harness the arcane web, to enable dwarven mages to hold greater mastery over magic and have the ability to imprint latent magical ability for the arcane onto a dwavern bloodline.
Axian wanted increase the amount of mages in the empire, by imprinting on non-magical lineage a link to the arcane sea, which would have enabled bloodlines with no or little aptitude for the arcane to be naturally gifted, and would inherit this down the bloodline, the same way in sorcerers gain their powers. This was in response to a number of sorcerer bloodlines becoming power hungry and seeking to use their innate power to gain domain over territory over the empire, in some cases by force, which brought the vulnerability to light, that if the empire's sorcerer's wanted to collectively seize control from the ruling dwavern lords they could. Ultimately, this is what led Axian, a supporter of the ruling lords, to seek an alternative to the power of Sorcery.
Upon completion the Vessel was used to bestow noble clans, proven to be loyal to the empire and the Under Architect arcane gifts, that imprinted creation arcane talents into their lineage.
However, upon it's completion a revolt by a group of sorcerers, with an army of duregar sought to seize the capital and control over the empire. Before they could reach the Xalmat foundry Axian is said to have cast his work somewhere in the planar web, committed to prevent his work being subverted for those who saw void of honour and morality. Axian was torn apart by the rebels before the high king's forces could reach his chamber and arrest the surviving rebels.
The rebels were sentenced to the Tor'Dekian vault for eternity, to suffer in the third work of the Architect, under their watchful eyes. This is said to be Tor'Axian's last laugh, as he had constructed the vault years ago, and the thought of his murderers suffering forever in one of his great works brought a small amount of solace to dwaves throughout the empire, who held him in great respect loyalty and his art.
As for the Vessel no one knows of it's location, with mages throughout history developing theories for where it might have been sent. Dwavern mages state that it was cast to the astral sea guarded by a great construct, elven scribes claim the dwarves of the Bakke have it under lock and key hidden from the world, but over the years rumour has varied greatly so no one can be so sure of it's location, only that whoever finds it could hold great power indeed . . . . .
