Maiden's Feast

“Bless your fire!”

Before the All-Father took his place in the Court of the King to keep watch over the world, his last act was to gift his beloved niece with a palace to live in splendor until her father, The King of Ashes, could return and visit her. Not content to give her a mortal dwelling, the King of Dust used his command of the elements to forge the Ice Palace. The massive moon forged from the purest waters of Maelstrom, brightest diamonds of Core, the coldest of The Winds, and then lit its halls with the brightest fires of Inferno and placed it above Kiaden to shine every night with the brilliance of heaven reflecting back upon the surface of the world. 
Never wanting to disappoint her strict father, the Moonlite Maiden spends her time preparing for his return. Every year in the winter solstice the King of Ashes joins his daughter in the Ice Palace where she throws a two-week celebration relishing her limited time with her father.  The divine celebration carries over to the mortals who, like the immortals above, stay within their homes during the coldest month relishing their time together.
Every year the ritual homecoming is celebrated across almost every culture with feasting, revelry, and cheer. Families gift each other tokens of affection celebrate each other's lives, and officially declare themselves a year older. The bitter cold keeps everyone indoors, venturing out only for food or to attend neighboring parties. It is a time of Peace, enforced by the bright moonlight and bitter cold, preventing all but the vilest of beings from causing trouble. 
When the comet representing the King of Ashes disappears behind the Ice Moon for two weeks every year, this corresponds to the coldest time as the pull of the comet slightly shifts Kiaden away from the Sun. The Light from the comet focuses through the Ice Moon and amplifies its light bathing the world in extreme moonlight for the duration.

Execution

Feasting, gift exchange, and hosting of friends and family who have been preparing for the two-week period through the year.

Components and tools

A hearth fire is lit and maintained through the entire duration of the two-week period.

Observance

The Maidens Feast takes place through the entire two-week period of the winter solstice.
