Diomede's Deletran Dockworkers

Structure

Diomede's Deletran Dockworkers is not by any means unique in its structure, many trade guilds are organized in very similar ways. At the bottom rung of the hierarchy are the laborers and teamsters, and of course the dockworkers that the guild draws its name from. Above the strong back professions are foremen who manage them and relay orders, for DDD these employees are almost always drawn from the group they oversee. Above the foremen are the merchants, whose wheeling and dealing are the source of the large majority of the orders foremen give. Above the merchants are the stockholders, who finance the ventures merchants use to multiply coin. Above them all, charting the course for the entire guild, is Diomede of Deletra, self-proclaimed Princess of Pleasures and the current ruler of the city.

Culture

Though it does not distinguish itself from its competition much in its structure, the culture in Diomede's Deletran Dockworkers certainly stands out. At every level of the organization, employees are paid roughly half again as much as their equivalents in other guilds. They further are given more time off and a staggering array of other benefits. In exchange for all this, Diomede demands excellence, agreeableness, and loyalty. She nearly universally receives all three.

Public Agenda

The official mandate of the guild is to "facilitate excellent, expedient, and efficient transfer of goods" and "navigate the physical and legal intricacies of Deletra's unique position" while "ensuring positive outcomes for our customers." Their purpose is to make money, and none mistake it.

Assets

The primary assets of the guild are ownership of key warehouses just off some of Deletra's largest docks, the road those warehouses are on, additional warehouses near the great bridge, the road between those sets of warehouses, a lease in perpetuity of the docks themselves, and an encyclopedic knowledge of Deletra's markets. Beyond this they maintain enormous fleets of ships, wagons, and their horses and of course a nearly incalculable river of goods and money.
