The Rotbringer

The Rotbringer is a creature of darkness. It is one of the many creatures trapped within the mists of Mystria. Many teams of hunters or members of the Order of Owls have tried to hunt it down wherever sightings are reported. Each group either has arrived to find only the carnage left in its wake or are never heard from again.
The few scant sightings from survivors has described the creatures as being humanoid, limbs and fingers longer than normal, a blank face, survivors seem to have only seen bits of the creature making it hard to describe. What has been noted is common in each telling is the creature seems to largely operate by sense of smell. Survivors all being individuals being related for injuries that have gone necrotic, or for some other reason have a strong sense of rot lingering about them. Theories seem to speculate that the smell of rot on an individual implies it has already been attached and as such is not needed to attack.
It is unclear if the Rotbringer feeds on a creature and the feeding it what leaves the attacked creatures as rotten corpses or if the rotting effect is caused by another effect. The aftermath of an attack bloated corpses that have experienced an accelerated rate of decay are all that is left, structures and flora in an area also have undergone rapid decomposition.
