The Icefields of Ruin

The Icefields of Ruin, is a name given to a vast expanse of ice and snow found to the south of the Five Kingdoms, past the southern pass and starting partway through what used to be the Southern Kingdoms. The terrain of the Icefields is barren and flat, with some evidence of terraforming beneath the ice sheets that form the surface, leading to great interest as for the purposes of the ice. There appear to be no signs of life on the surface.
Reports from scouts seem to indicate each year it grows, expanding further north. This is seen as a good sign in that it slowly cleanses the areas that have been transformed into the Shadowlands, but is becoming a greater mater of concern the closer it gets to the Five Kingdoms.
None are sure of the source of the Icefields or of their unnatural growth. But already plans are being made for expeditions to explore the southern regions in the hope of finding the source and the answers to so many questions. A matter that makes this more pressing is there is evidence of expeditions from the Shadowlands, and no one can risk the Dark Lord gaining the powers of this eternal winter.
