Sauree Character in Khinarzi | World Anvil

Sauree

Sauree was an archfey, not tied to the courts of the Seelie or Unseelie for he was considered on the beauty of the courts. Often, he would hunt through the different and lost places in the corners of the feywild. This was no issue for many bar the few unfortunate lost traveller who soon would be found dead or worse feasting on the flesh of their kin.   While this concerned individual members of the courts of the fey, the lack of it affecting them meant the courts ignored this lone killer. This was of course until the Night of Blood. High in the sky the moon was a bright blood red, both courts found one of their number; the Painter of Dreams from the Seelie and the Duchess of Nightmares from the Unseelie feasting on the flesh of their fellow archfey. Both were put down by their respective court after long and bloody fights. It soon transpired these two were lovers who had left their courts that night to meet under the blood red moon to express their affections away from prying eyes and it was here Sauree had found them and in an act of pure malice infected them with his curse.   Queen Titania and Queen Meg rarely agree but this once they allied their courts to destroy the monster hunting in their domains. Killing of foolish travelers from other planes was one thing but to kill archfey demanded reprisal. It was fortunate the hunt had been large in number with many members of both courts for when they arrived at Sauree’s den they found him a king atop a throne of corpses surrounded by an army of his children.   The battle’s details have never been recovered by mortals by what is known is most of the twisted fey died with the few that escaped making it to the Material Planes where they have become a menace to the mortal races to this day. As for Sauree he was captured and exiled from not just the Feywild but also the very Multiverse itself. That way he could suffer for eternity with his never-ending hunger, though he does seem to have kept his sanity leading some scholars to believe that when one of his children feasts it is not only to sate their endless hunger it in part feed Sauree which could explain the endless hunger of the Children of Sauree.
