Teruunn Ethnicity in Keverynn | World Anvil

Teruunn (teh-roon)

To most people, the siathi they know are primarily from Salcreria. It’s not uncommon to see members of this winged species living in cities across the Provinces, but the majority of the species calls Salcreria its home.   This was not always the case.   Before the incident that caused the Nomads to break off from the rest of Keverynn’s population in the event known as the Great Walk, the siathi had multiple territories. Salcreria isn’t their oldest, but it is their preferred location. They had major population centers in the Darkrider Territories, what is now Horyinn, and on Exile’s Island.   After this event, most of the siathi in Horyinn left, but a large number stayed and joined the Nomads. The Eastern siathi cut ties with their northern cousins, refusing to allow any of those to live in their settlements. They cited limited resources as the reason. The Western siathi were more accepting, though many of these immigrants found themselves being treated as somewhat lesser than the natives.   After the Sisterhood split the Darkriders and the Dragonlords apart, the Western siathi found themselves cut off from their Eastern cousins. As the Darkriders exerted more and more control over their new territory, these siathi coped by either bowing to their authority or relocating to Exile’s Island.   While the Darkriders were fully aware of the island and its mixed human and siathi inhabitants, it was a hassle for them to deal with. The High Matriarchs eventually decreed the island to be off limits. Any who wished to go there would not be permitted back on the mainland.   This ruling suited the siathi just fine. To further separate themselves from their Eastern cousins, they became known as the terunn.
