Landowner
Landowners have various formal titles based on the size of their individual parcels of land. The amount of land they have dominion over determines how much sway they have with their Regional Lord
Most often upon the death of the original purchaser ownership of the lands reverts back to the Province. It's possible for a landowner to transfer their lands to their offspring, but that needs to be negotiated with the Regional Lord at the time of purchase. Attempting to do so at a later date makes things more difficult and significantly more expensive.
Title | Amount of land |
---|---|
Dalraig/Dalraega | Large |
Edler | Medium |
Vidane/Vidame | Small |
Tharar/Thaurain | Small and remote |
Requirements
One needs to have purchased a parcel of land from their Regional Lord rather than renting it from the City Lord. This requires a large sum of money for even a small parcel.
Responsibilities
While they purchase their lands from the Regional Lord they answer directly to the nearest City Lord. Once an individual has purchased their land and received the title associated with the size of the parcel, they have a responsibility to care for that land and its resources whether that be farmland, forest, mines, or animals. It's up to them to hire what help they need to work the land.
