The Paradise Peninsula

The city of Paradise is a lush, fertile, near-jungle environment parodoxically surrounded by the Salt Wastes of the eastern wing of the continent of Ketheria. There is most assuredly some form of magic at work, preserving the lush wilderness from the encroachment of the wastes, but the source of any such sorcery has yet to be unearthed, and not for lack of trying - Paradise is a city built to harbour at least ten million residents, but the greatest number it sees at any singular time in recorded history is just over fifty thousand. With only one in every two hundred buildings occupied, there is a lot of room for exploration, and that’s just on the surface, where the buildings lay shaded by heavy palm trees and jungle ferns. The Undercity of Paradise is just as extensive, if not more, than the overcity, and it is much less organized and regulated than the overcity as well. Here, roots and such make an intrusion from the overgrowth above, harvested for whatever benefits, nutritional and otherwise, that may be present.

Geography

The city of Paradise rests on a peninsula in the Eastern wing of the continent of Ketheria, nestled right on the coast of a peninsula, whereas the entire peninsula and then some is entirely covered in jungle greenery, right up to a hard border with the Great Salt Waste. Fresh water is scarce, but definitely very available whether through collecting from the plants themselves, collection of rainwater (of which, as it is on a peninsula into the ocean, it rains often), or distillation and filtration; a process which the Waste Dwarves are expert at.

Fauna & Flora

Traditional jungle creatures analogous to the real world can be found in and around paradise, with the addition of:

Waste Bears, massive, hulking bear-like creatures that wander in from the wasteland from time to time and generally eat and eat and eat until they fall ill or die from consuming too much.

Bale Squids, intelligent creatures, capable of manipulating simple tools and the like, similar in some aspects to a hybrid in intelligence between the common octopus and chimpanzees, but with a highly venomous ink that even outside of water, they can spray a good dozen feet. And these creatures can often be found on the coast itself, not just in the water.

And lastly, the Malicefly. By itself, a commonly irritating insect, no more or less significant than any common housefly or mosquito. But in this particular case, the Malicefly is particularly could at transporting illnesses from target to target, which has earned them their name.

Natural Resources

Besides abundant natural sources of wood and salt, both of which are more use as exports than any actual usable material locally, Paradise does not actually harbour significant natural resources.
