The Eastern Swamplands

The Eastern Swamplands is the origin tribal settlement of a race of above-average intelligent lizardfolk, consisting of a crocodilian persuasion. It is the recognized as the original birthplace of most of the tribal leaders that encompass the planet, Hyptal 34C , and consists of three tribes that coexist within the swamp.
Demographics
The inhabitants for the most part are some variation of crocodilian, i.e. Crocodiles, Alligators, and Caimans.
Government
The Swamplands are governed by a central larger tribe, which determines hunting routes, breeding seasons, and other important changes for the neighboring tribes, as well as itself. Internally a tribe is guided by the Chief, who is often the biggest or strongest lizardfolk. The Chief in turn is guided by the tribe Shaman, who has spent their early life learning about the surroundings of the settlement. Normally the tribe Shaman will look for a lizardfolk that has hermaphroditic qualities, as this is revered as a highly religious symbol. These lizardfolk are then groomed to become the future Shaman of the tribe, after the current one dies.
Defences
Other than having been built in a swamp with treacherous terrain, there are several traps that are spread out along the outskirts of the tribes, and a select number of scouts patrol for signs of intruders or even prey. Hunting parties also serve as guards or war bands.
Infrastructure
This settlement features housed living in the form of treehouses, mud huts, and lightly furnished dens. The higher one's status is in the tribe, the higher quality of house they would have. There are also several communal areas that are used for social bonding or religious ceremonies.
History
The most central and largest tribe originated as several clutches of eggs stolen by a shaman of another tribe, that were hatched and raised to appreciate intelligence rather than shun it. This led to them being able to outwit rival tribes and hunters, leading to a higher rate of survivability, and a quick population growth. Eventually as some of the males left to form their own tribes, they were able to out-grow the competition, leading to full planetary control, and general peace. However, despite the peace amongst the inhabitants, the planet is often visited by hostile scouting parties of other races.
Architecture
Dried mud and thatch are the most commonly used building materials in the tribe, generally forming bulbous-shaped houses. The only building that utilize a different building style is the Chieftain's hut, which is formed of a sort of mud brick, not unlike adobe.
Geography
The heart of the swamp is a forested wetland that serves as the center of the tribe. As the swamp continues it eventually flows into the ocean. The water is replaced by fresh water that flows into the wetlands from several nearby lakes.
