The Followers of Time
The Followers of Time is the Main Religion of Torzhokia, and quite possibly the Tykriels that preceded them. It is a monotheistic religion that follows the teachings of Ominor, the Kesian deity of Time.
Mythology & Lore
The religion tells of a White Quail who was so smart that it thought it could control time, only realizing that in such a pursuit that it is impossible for one to ever control, much less understand something like time. The White Quail rested itself upon the tallest point of Kesia, a piecing between realms, and let out a word to be heard by all planes of existence, to all both mortal and immortal. and that, was the Tenets of Time.
Divine Origins
The City-State of Peafowl, also known as the Holy Site for Ominor Himself, exists to house Ominor and His teachings to the people of Kesia, it was here where the foundations of the religion are developed and sent to the world for the people to freely interpret.
Cosmological Views
"The confines of how one's existence came to be are up to the interpretation of the individual themselves. What is more important than how this acknowledgment came to be, is whether or not they acknowledge their own existence. As to exist is to continue moving forward in Thyme's eternal sea.
-Ominor, from Tennets of Time
Essentially, the creation theory is left to your own interpretation and largely unimportant to this religion. Instead, this religion focuses on the present itself, and what you make of it.Tenets of Faith
The Three Tenets of Time:
- Time is Ominous.
- No Singular Entity Controls Time
- We Make What We Can of Time.
Worship
Worship of the religion depends on what sect one follows. If one follows The Tennets of Time, Worship is commonly reduced down to spiritual practices of self-appreciation, and most of its teachings and forms of worship would be similar to that of following methods of positive psychology.
If one follows Worship of Ominor, not only would they follow the tennets of time's philosophy of self-appreciation, but also give themselves to Ominor, thanking him for allowing both them and their religion to exist.
Priesthood
As this religion focuses on the self more than others. There is no real organization or hierarchy of individuals for the religion. Although there are a few people that are notably tied to Ominor and His Tenets of Time.
Klockwerk Enforcers: A unique class that acts as Paladins to Ominor's Tenets. These are individuals that have unique powers seek out and observe anything that one would suspect could potentially harm the natural flow of time. However, they are merely watchers of a natural flow, and acting upon anything of the sort is considered unnatural and sinful.
Proprietors: One of the Sects of Ominor's Religion reveres Ominor as a God, and tend to house places of worship and/or meeting for a sense of spiritual community. There are often those that set up and host these sort of meetings, and they are given the special title of Proprietor to note their contribution to the communal faith.
Ominor's Envoys: There are two individuals, known only as The Wolf and The Raven, that are granted special and unique superpowers by Ominor. It is unknown what their purpose is, nor who they are, only that they are immortals that walk upon the world as mortals.
Granted Divine Powers
The only individuals, save for Ominor's Envoy's, that are granted any power by the faith of His religion are Klockwerk Enforcers, which have unique token spells that grant the enforcer more power as their time in combat progresses, believing to act only after time has passed to reconsider.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The Followers of Ominor affect Torzhokia's political landscape greatly, as it is the City-State of Peafowl, the religion's holy site, that has granted the education and location of the Tykriel ruins, and the nation gives thanks to the city-state for the power it gifts. As such the nation tries it's best to please both the holy site and its religion. It does this by establishing it as the main religion for Torzhokia, while also establishing it as a protected religion, were any forms of dissent or hate against the religion is prohibited and enforced by law.
Sects
There are two sects of this religion: The Tennets of Time, which focus on the Tennets and Self-Improvement rather than revering Ominor as anything more than a force, and the Worship of Ominor, which reveres Ominor as a god and thanks him for all he does, and puts faith to Ominor above the Tennets, as they were created by his mind.
