Magai Adept
Among the Grand Order of the Magai, members are split into five groups, based on both age and skill-level. Of these, the Adepts are the highest achievable rank, reserved only for those who excel in their field(s) of choice to the point of mastery. The title itself already suggests a certain level of knowledge and skill in said field, but those familiar with the Magai know exactly how much work goes into becoming an Adept.
Adepts are the most skilled of the Magai, fully trained and highly proficient in their field of choice. Magai are typically only Adept in one field of choice, though they may hold high ranks in other fields as well. They are the highest rank a Magai can achieve and hold, only ruled over by the more transient roles given to their leaders.
Qualifications
The qualifications to become a Magai Adept are largely the same as the requirements. To be able to achieve Adept rank in a field of choice, the Magai must first have achieved the next-highest rank in that field: Magai Maven.
Requirements
To become a Magai Adept, one must first be a Magai, and thus Vita-Touched. Additionally, they must also have already reached the rank of Magai Maven, and have achieved Maven level in the field they wish to become Adept in. They must also pass certain classes and/or exams for the field of choice. That alone does not make them an Adept, however. There is also a practical, not so easily measurable element, which is mostly determined based on feeling: a Magai Adept should feel like an Adept, when using Vita magic.
Appointment
A Magai needs to be accepted at the rank of Adept by the Magai Hands, the leaders of the Grand Order of the Magai. This is important, because the Hands are responsible for registering the Magai at their increased rank. It is also typically celebrated with a ceremony known as Ascension, in which the person Ascends to the rank of Adept, but it is not officially mandated, just the norm.
Duties
Magai Adepts, like all Magai, are expected to do their work, and do it well, having achieved the highest rank in their field(s). Additionally, the rank of Adept allows these Magai to train not one, but multiple Disciples at once. As such, they are expected to help teach the next generation, by either having their own Disciples, or at the very least helping teach classes or aid other Magai with raising their Disciples.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Like all Magai, Adepts wear their identification badges within easy sight. The beads they receive for reaching Adept level in a field of choice are worn in the upper-left section of said badge, allowing others to easily see what specializations the Magai has achieved, and what rank they are.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Magai Adepts cannot lose their title as Adept. They can only be removed from the Grand Order of the Magai as a whole, thus losing any and all titles they may hold linked to being a Magai.
Cultural Significance
Magai Adepts are widely known in the UGF for being the highest ranked among all Magai. Those familiar with the organization know exactly how much knowledge, skill, and training comes into play with becoming Adept.
After the collapse of the Grand Order, Magai became despised and hunted. Their titles became meaningless at best, and a reason to hate at worst. The Adepts were looked upon worst, their high ranks now reason for scorn. After all, what sort of good person would spend so much time and effort learning about such a terrible organization, and awful magic?
