Giant Strider
Firenewts have a close relationship with a type of monstrous beast they believe Imix sent to aid them-Borne out by the creature's ability to send a gout of flame against distant enemies. Called Giant Striders, these monsters appear birdlike and reptilian, but are truly neither. The Firenewt Warrior And Firenewt Warlock of Imix provide shelter, food, and breeding grounds in their lairs for Giant Striders, and the striders voluntarily serve as mounts for elite Firenewt soldiers.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Monstrosity, Giant Strider: Birdlike and Reptilian, The Strider stands on two legs ending in clawed feet, an upright body with long tail, two short limbs, like arms ending in claws are high up the body, and a long neck with a beaked head completes this creature.
Genetics and Reproduction
Female Striders lay eggs on a monthly basis after being fertilized by a male.
Growth Rate & Stages
Egg, three moons (Months) later the egg cracks and a Strider emerges, and within a year a Strider becomes an adult.
Ecology and Habitats
Warm to Hot areas of The Underdark.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivore.
Additional Information
Domestication
Many Striders roam free in the Underdark, some were captured and bred by Firenewts for beasts of burden and war, carrying a warrior into battle.
Facial characteristics
The face is that of a reptilian Bird, A sharp beak with black eyes.

THe Strider's body is a deep red colour, with an underbelly of whitish-pink, with Black claws and beak, also head, neck and spine spikes of black.
