Rock Gnome

Rock gnomes are a subrace of gnomes who, like all gnomes were bread as a slave race by the elves. The rock gnomes are usually found serving high elves in their arctic cities.

Rock gnomes are usually content in their roles as slaves. Some are freed or escape but it's rare to find a free gnome. Free gnomes, especially gnomes who genuinely desired freedom, often find themselves adventuring.

There exists a group of rock gnomes who have endeavored to create their own independent state, known as Tomteland.

To create a rock gnome character, use the Rock Gnome subrace in the Player's Handbook, page 37. Add the following trait:

Born a Slave. Gnomes have been bred for slavery by the elves and as such respond almost by instinct to their orders. Gnomes have disadvantage when rolling to resist a command from an elf (for instance a Wisdom save against a persuasion attempt). In addition, Gnome Cunning does not extend to saves against spells that manipulate the mind, like Command, Suggestion or Geas.
