Galin's first entries

General Summary

From the presentation of Sage Andrath Millege, at the 2376 Conference of Archaelogical Magic.   "...nature of the Menokay question, its indisputable that Galinnopolik Hotchkissmengal contributed decissively to magic. This journal, once deciphered, has proven that he among others established themselves in Venzor, now the country of Zor. The fact the site remained largely intact is of evidence at the mind at work. Now, I'd like to read a few exerts from this journal, which is only the first of many though in the worst condition, to shed light on this historical figure."   May 26,   Land finally in sight, just when I've recovered from that dreadful tossing of the gears that has plagued me the majority of the voyage. Clinker Claws faired far better then I. I've heard that the princess' party will be going a shore to scout out if its safe to make anchorage. This would be far simplified if we could just fly over...(heavily water damaged drawing of an airship).   May 27,   Its a miracle that Max ever survived long enough to make the journey, the rest aren't much better though they rallied beautfully when the encounter turned violent. We managed to capture two of the green beasts, at the tavern the survivors were properly appalled by their appearance though I must wonder why they kept trying to untie the rope bindings...   It would appear, that death has a large hand to play in this colony...more accurately undeath. The skeletons clattered wonderfully, if disjointedly, as they moved en phalanx. This has worryingly caused the disappearance of the Mayor, and his, I'm sure, unclean goblin cook. Why? Goblins? Cooking please, Clinker Claws could make a better breakfast. Back to the skeletons though, this has given me another wonderful idea, though like my airship I need a power source...Ma'cite? That would need more research. If legends are believed, the Forged were created with it...too many ideas, too many rumors...   May 28,   On our celestially touched party members, one The Princess, is a true delight if a bit young. Astrael has a nack for the magical, a keen mind, and the knowledge when to keep her mouth shut and ears open. Let me expand.   Today we ventured about, to see the general condition of the town as well as to find what resources are readily available. During the venture, after exploring the battle ground outside the light house outside the west all. We happened upon a giant of some kind, not the brightest of specimens if one were to ask my oppinion. Instead of charging it with lance at the readyd, she attempted to communicate...I liken this talking to a wall, but you won't hurt yourself by running at a wall. The creature shared some of its Roc with us after the failed attempt, so largely a peaceful encounter. As for myself, I admit I was more interested in the light house...I think I can repair it...the machine within simply begs for it.   As for the other, Tolis, a fine warrior if a bit dour. After the lighthouse we looked into the lumbermill, gear mesh be praised, it was well stocked, and shouldn't take much to get it running again. The problem seems to be an infestation of overly large spiders, the thing of nightmares if one is to be square. Still, his sword, her rapier, Tabby's bow, as the Elf's bow and my spells brought several low. On the topic of the Elf...while I don't know him personally his discipline in battle...   May 28, Night   I awoke again tonight after a magnificent vision. The cosmos in all its planes was laid out before me. Everything moved with such elegant percission...I shudder to think what this implies. It does bring a couple of questions. Is there any difference between the Arcane and the Divine? What is it to be Divine? With this view, the vision imparted it begs the question, is there a Balance? Things to think about.   May 29,   Finally we're getting somewhere. The six hundred odd people included in the expedition were finally allowed to disembark. More hands means more work done, and I don't have to focus so much on disturbing my musings. Still, one can't always sit with dusty tomes, one must get greasy...or bloody.   The Princess, the Knight, Tabby, and I were accompanied by several eager adventurers that braved the voyage. Among them a strange sounding monk whose hand could fell a giant I'm sure, but whose stick was only good for lighting the way. We decided to roust out the home of the spiders of unusual size. Its here I'm sad to report that I was almost brought low, though this has given me greater insights to the Divine, we gnomes, elves, humans, and all are the truly divine. Life-Death, Fire-Water, Earth-Air, Order-Chaos, everything is balanced, its these things that move on the axel of existance more on this later.   We also found the source of the spiders of unusual size, a demented hermit living beneath a blood tree. There's a connection to another person...I disremember who, but that's not the important thing. Tolis, whom I've to date had little in common with, and I found we have something very much in common. Astrael. Our reasons may differ, but as we were counting the cost we found her lifeless body, it shook me profoundly. It gave me another gear in the grand workings of the universe, Creation-Destruction, it is in this that people truly become divine. I wonder what the Great Machine has in store for me new found faith and wrath.
