Regions

Over time and as a result of conflict, geography and other factors the landmass of Katya has become split into several arbitrary regions.

Xandria

Xandria is a region and kingdom to the south-east of Katya. It is a large region 2000 miles across at its widest point.   It is ruled by the Xandrian Alliance which was formed after the The Mage Wars in order to present a more united front against a common foe, the Dolmech Empire. It is composed of the four principal cities of Xandria: Yita, Drilwood, East-Haven and Taramont.   The area of Xandra west of Drilwood is far drier and inhospitable and is therefore much less populated.   Its population is mostly human but the other races are much more prevalent here than in other parts of the world.   It has several notable features. Its northern border follows the Maytara Mountains. It has two large forested areas: Drilwood and Stourghar. It has a large river network stemming from the northern mountain range with many tributaries which creates some of the most fertile farming pastures in the world.

Dolmech

Is a small region to the east of Katya.   Ruled by the Dolmech Empire from the city of Garlemald. Dolmech is mostly a barren lifeless place after the cataclysm but it has abundant supplies of natural inorganic materials which make up the bulk of its exports.   Its population is comprised mostly of humans and many other races find themselves shunned by the native Dolmech people.   It is surrounded by mountain ranges. The Giant's Highlands to the north, the Ever Reaching Peaks to the west and the Maytara Mountains to the south. Its eastern border meets the shimmering sea.   After the cataclysm, a large fracture formed to the north of the region which connects to the Underdark. The empire has been able to harvest materials with extraplanar origin from around this site.

Azad

Azad is a small region north of Dolmech and south of the Frostjaw Mountains.   It is ruled by *insert name here Dynasty*. Its capital is Karayang the seat of the dynasties wang (king) and the royal palace.   The region has a large river that runs the width of it practically splitting it in two. It is otherwise surrounded by mountain ranges to the north, west and south and the shimmering sea on the east.

Sumara

Sumara is a moderately sized region ruled by the tyrannical Tzar Rurik.   Within its western borders is the Lost City of Zariya.

Vasianor

A small region governed by Duke Sirius Martel.

Gieldur

The region of the Maytara mountains from which the Gieldur dwarves are from. The area is almost completely subterranean and its capital Thrandrhim has no direct connections out of the mountain.
