The Black Obelisk

Among the islands north of Karenth Centralis, Continent of numerous strange items have been found, from toxic and halucenigenic plants to bizare animals to sands made of purple crystal, but one of the strangest is the giant carved black stone obelisk located on an island exactly 1 km in diameter and a perfect circle, even when the tide changes. The island slopes upwards several feet to the obelisk.
The obelisk itself is made of an unknown black stone stone and stands 61.6 meters tall with a square base of 3.6 meters and coming to a perfect point at the top. The surface is polished to a perfect mirror polish and one can see his or her image in the surface, however the light of the sun is not reflected off of the obelisk, preventing the blinding of nearby sailors. The monument is devoid of scratches, wear, weathering, or visible symbology.
The monument was discovered by a group of explorers looking for resources to help the Displaced. They tried numerous attempts to remove chunks of stone for study, but were unable to cause any impact or change in the appearance of the surface of the stone.
The monument has a following known as the The Cult of the Obelisk. They believe the obelisk has been brought to Karenth as a sign of saving the land from the evils that lie below, those evils that have boiled up across the known world such as the Oasis Vines.
The cult journeys to the island several times a year to worship at the base of it. For the most part they are harmless and have no real goals.
