Battle of Freedom's Gate

In the middle of the night, a huge beam of magical energy shot up out of the ground from the Karenthian Batteries located in Ironholm. The shot far up to the Porcupine Moon, and the beam shot back down from the moon after hitting it and landed far to the east of Ironholm.
The Order of Eight sent groups of varying levels to find out what happened and where the beam landed.
Days later, large numbers of warlike orcs, wearing unknown garb and carrying symbols unknown to the Displaced were found on the road between Grayton's Lot and Elenoran. The orcs were raiding trading caravans. As such, the Order of Eight ordered multiple groups of the The Gwen to slow the orcs while a larger defense could be organized.
The battle began with two of the Gwen teams engaged a vastly larger body of orcs. Four of the eight members of the Gwen were killed, and hundreds of orcs fell during the first wave of the battle. The remaining four members of the team joined up with a team of four apprentices, out searching for the landing zone of the beam, and discovered what happened to the beam. The beam had powered Freedom's Gate allowing orcs from a far off world to invade Karenth.
The apprentices returned to Ironholm to inform the Order what happened. As such, the readied defence from Ironholm being led by Warren Elens, the leader of the Order, and two other primary members of the Order, two teams of the Gwen, and a hundred other lower members of the Order, all seasoned adventurers, travelled to the east and confronted the orcs.
Having the opportunity to surprise the orcs, Warren, the Gwen, and one of the members of the Order launched a surprise assault, smashing the orcs with major magics, destroying orcs with sword and bow, the team was still out numbered. But this was all planned, and the team fled west into a ravine to the end, and climbed up ropes at the end of the ravine that were waiting for them.
The orcs in turn chased the team through the ravine and were ambushed and slaughtered from above by the waiting 100 plus members of the Order.
