The Citizens Insurrection of 3744NC

Attempted Coup

While the news of Medale being destroyed was still fresh in the minds of most folk, the monarch who ruled Stretto was not eager to hear what the other leaders had to say about the situation. In a public statement he announced that the other cities were trying to force them into an alliance that would be harmful to the Stretto citizenry and couldn't be trusted. This was a lie, of course, but it was his ham-fisted attempt to control the perceptions of his people and prevent them from learning that life among the other cities was generally better with democratic representation.

Unable to prevent information from reaching the common folk, quickly a movement began to gather against the monarch. His advisors convinced him to squash the agitators but even with public displays of strength and a reliable means of ferreting out the mutineers he was unable to end the upheaval among the populus.

Eventually, in 3744 NC hundreds of men and women rallied and an extremely passionate but disorganzied mob of mostly untrained combatants swarmed the royal palace. Without basic military knowlege or combat experience they didn't stand a chance against armed knights and trained soldiers. Nearly every soul who picked up a weapon that day died to prove that a monarchy and an independent city weren't going to keep them safe.
That night same night, thinking his rulership was no longer in danger, the monarch was killed in his sleeping chambers at the hand of a spy whose parents and brothers had died during the attempted coup, Florina Khegsar.
The next morning, the royal advisor proclaimed that since there was no precedent, the woman responsible for killing the monarch would take his seat and an outlaw became the interm leader of Stretto, ultimately being the deciding force behind finalizing the Allegran Accords.

The Conflict

Prelude

After the protracted siege of Medale and the eventual fall of the city, many folk among the three remaining Allegran cities began discussing an alliance of some kind to prevent such a massive loss from ever happening again. At the time, the leadership of Stretto was a monarchy that was unwilling to risk losing their position by exposing his population to the concept. He was unable to completely prevent these ideas from reaching his people, mainly due to the interference of Florina Khegsar and her criminal family. Those who saw the opportunity to create an alliance with the other cities took action, fearing that being left isolated would also leave them vulnerable.

Outcome

The monarchy system of Olde Stretto was abolished and the new leadership began to prepare for the summit that would eventually lead to the Allegran Accords.
