Dannamore Hospital
Among the various facilities and progams being run by the Dannamore sits this large, brownish-grey, six story building. Located near the Dannamore Ivory Tower, it stands out because of the unique dark color of the building and the lack of artistry in it's construction. Most buildings within Etude are designed with a specific goal in mind - forges have extra ventilation and are built from fire resistant materials, for example. This is not the case where the hospital is conerned. It was built through a combination of practicality and urgent need without the usual forthought the Dannamore is usually known for.
Purpose / Function
Built to shelter and care for individuals suffering from curable illness and injury, the hospital was a welcome addition to the city. Once operational it significantly reduced the number of 'snake oil' salesmen and swindlers selling ineffective medical treatments on the streets of Etude. It is credited as a major contributor to the increase in lawful and healthy behavior shortly after the signing of the Allegran Accords and was publicly praised by the very first Mansa.
Alterations
Originally the hospital grounds were quite seperate from the Dannamore Ivory Tower but over time as the Dannamore expanded to include other endeavors the entire district sort of blurred together to create a type of campus. Now, the hospital and the outbuildings number nearly a dozen, each with thier own specialized purpose and the main floor of the original brown building has been transformed into an emergency medical station where folks in need can come to receive medical attention or learn about their ailments.
Architecture
At the time of construction building materials were a valuable commodity within Etude. The new sense of safety had entire communities flocking from all corners of Allegri to settle in one of the capital cities so the folks at Dannamore did what they knew best: they invented a new substance. The umber material they developed could support incredibly heavy loads and was used in the bottom three floors of the building, including a relatively new concept - an elaborately engineered underground foundation.
The building was constructed in a hurry but they knew it would likely need to expand in the future and wanted to have room to grow. The strong foundation, built using their newly developed and arcanely treated material. Ultimately the result was an incredibly hard and durable foundation that supported more weight but was inherently quite unpleasant to look at.
