West Venture Trading Company
The West Venture Trading Company, or WVTC, is a major power within the Dreadfire. Commanding a large navy and many merchants, the WVTC is poised to claim what it believes is rightfully theirs within the Dreadfire, making itself richer and in turn The Empire.

The WVTC is a hybrid business cooperation that has attained political leave to represent The Empire within the Dreadfire. The WVTC follows a loose hierarchy as follows.

Public Agenda
The WVTC itself is a trading monopoly who regulates and controls most trade from The Empire to the Dreadfire and back. The WVTC has grander plans than just filling its pockets. Besides trade, it also has a royal charter from The Empire that allows the WVTC to represent them within the Dreadfire. The WVTC seem to want to carve out a sizable portion of the Dreadfire for their personal gain, all in the name of the Emperor of course.

History
The WVTC started as a small shipping company in the earlier days of The Empire located on Ithria. Like most other companies it grew and shrank with the leaders of the company. It grew to prominence when Ceran Talus bought the company out of bankruptcy. He was a wealthy noble with connections within the royal court. He used his assets to turn the struggling shipping company into a major player within The Empire. He soon combined all his previous businesses with the company and it naturally grew even larger and stronger.
With its fingers in many different businesses now, the company soon assimilated many struggling businesses and even some that were prominent. Like a snowball, it used its ever growing wealth to continue to grow and grow. It grew so large it could no longer be managed by one man, so the most prominent members formed the Court of Governors. It contained the wealthiest and most powerful members of the company and continues to govern the company to this day.
The WVTC is no longer just a shipping company, it has fingers, big or small within many different businesses within The Empire. Even though it holds no land itself, many of its governors are land owning nobles within The Empire. It's in this way the WVTC is a ghost province, since it officially holds no land and governor but is ruled by many who do.
It is one of the most important pieces that allows The Empire to remain strong despite its hostile environment, without it, The Empire would lose significant influence and power.
