Kamenzaan

An old world, full of ancient structures and lore. The sentient beings who have evolved most recently are smaller than the previous occupants. Buildings and tools are slightly oversized. The Gentlings, as they call themselves, are now enmeshed in the world and ways of those who came before. Most of their coping skills beyond simple survival have come from the discovery and use of things left behind. Many cities have been repaired and rebuilt by the Gentlings. They have not figured out the language of the ancients, but recognize that the old scrolls and paintings are important.   A peaceful society, they eat mostly fruits, nuts and some fish. They haven't kept up the fields, sticking to raising trees for the most part. They are comfortable in nature, and have not repaired the crumbling roofs except in nurseries. They are hairy, and can use two or four limbs to move about and grab things. Some of the ancient structures are underwater, and although the water levels are fairly stable now, they recognize that things can change.   While they experience life on an individual level, they are deeply connected to each other as a species. They welcome strangers as guests. Gentlings have no natural predators, and with nothing to protect against they have not fortified their defenses. They spend their time caring for plants and trees, repairing damaged buildings, preparing meals, and playing. They are extremely creative, drawings and short poems are scrawled everywhere, inside and out.   For the most part, they live an idyllic existence.
