Material Characteristics

Dragon silk is a thin fibrous material with a brilliant metallic sheen. It is naturally an off-white colour with a faint golden shine, but it can be dyed a variety of colours.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Like regular silk textiles derived from silkworms, Dragon Silk has a very fine and tight weave that is incredibly resistant to piercing. Spear heads, arrows, and sewing needles alike are ineffective against it. While traditional silk is incredible easy to cut and slice, Dragon Silk is very resistant to this. Special equipment is required to craft with the sturdy textile.

Origin & Source

While regularly the word "silk" refers to both the animal protein and the textile derived from it, Dragon Silk specifically refers to the type of textile. While Dragon Silk is indeed made from a natural fiber (or at least partially natural), its raw form is not known to outsiders.
*It is unknown to those who don't produce it whether Dragon Silk is actually draconic in nature or not. Is the "Dragon" part of its name referring to the material's strength? Its beauty? Its rarity? Is it actually derived from Draconids? Is it just called that because its made by Dragonborn? Who knows! Only the [place] weavers know.
