Qualifications

Must be able to use magic and swear loyalty to the Prominent Families (not necessarily the City of Selka)

Career Progression

Through intense training and proven loyalty the the Prominent Families, a Magra can move through the ranks on their own until they reach Oranen Magra, or Proven Mage. To go any higher they would need recommendations from either Prominent Family members or higher ranking Magrn.

Out of the entire garrison of Selka (about 600K men out of the city's 8 million inhabitants), about 5% are trained Magrn

Magrn are generally used as either personal guards to the Prominent Families or as Watchers on the wall dividing the Interior from the rest of the city.

Dangers & Hazards

Selkan Magrn differ from the Chaotics of the Heartland in the fact that Magrn care very little about self-preservation. Heartlandian Chaotics are taught to restrain themselves from utilizing too much magic to avoid harming themselves with burns from magic exposure.
The Magrn of Selka, on the other hand, are trained to use the full extent of their power to defend the city and those they serve. A Mage can often be seen with both arms bandaged from fingertip to shoulder to cover the extensive burns they receive from using their power.
