Spring solstice on the islands

During the time of the dragons there was a superstition that if you spent the spring solstice on the islands in the estuary off the Citadel then you will receive what you deserve. But no one is recorded as having successfully made it to the islands on this date and back again after. In fact no one tries to make the crossing at all, and now the stories are forgotten.   Many young people used to attempt to cross, dreaming of riches or power or glory. Most of them sunk their boats on the rocks around the islands and were forced to swim back to shore. Those that did manage to pass the submerged rocks were never seen again. It was said that they must not have deserved what they dreamt of, and were punished instead. Over time less people attempted the crossing and now it is a lonely place.   Recorded histories of the beginning of the dragon era on Kaitstud include stories about the islands. They try to explain the sounds often heard emanating from there. But each story contradicts each other. A giant monster lives there and eats all visitors. It is cursed and that curse is passed on to whoever lands on the island. That the dragons hoarded the resources and magic from there, which was part of why the humans rebelled against them.   They are portrayed as a place of testing, where only the worthy survive. Over time less people have attempted to cross to the islands, and so the stories about them have dwindled. The clans didn't encourage anyone to go there, as they might potentially become a threat to them. And the Conservatoire developed other, musical, sources of magic and power. So those who might have searched for a supernatural icon instead developed their magical skills through music.
