Wallis Simpson Character in Kaiserreich Chronicles (1936 AD.) | World Anvil

Wallis Simpson

Born: 19th June 1896 Nationality: American   An American born socialite who presently resides in Ottawa. The charming, passionate, captivating Mrs Simpson is the wife of two men and the lover of God knows how many others. While her ability to be the life of any party is unmatched. Originally married to a United States Navy Officer for ten years, and now eight years into her second marriage. This time to Ernest Aldrich Simpson, an American shipbroker and former officer of the Coldstream Guards; who is himself divorced. All this however would be little more than the kind of salacious talk used by bored women to enliven a dull party were it not for the person rumoured to be her new favourite; and most concerningly; the feeling appears to be mutual.   The new King, Edward VIII, has long had a reputation as a partygoer and womaniser. Many had hoped, not least his father George V, that he would eventually get around to the rather important royal task of raising a family. Especially as his younger brothers started to get married themselves. Most famously the Duke and Duchess of York, whose wedding was one of the last great events prior to the British Revolution.   Whatever his reasons, the Prince of Wales refused to choose a bride. Now as King, he may have his eye on someone, but his speculated choice arouses no feeling of joy in anyone. The thought that this twice married, divorced, American, socialite should be queen is one that brings scandal to all who contemplate it. not least because it would mean she would be twice divorced. With two previous husbands living! Unless they were to suffer some tragic accident. However no one is seriously considering that possibility. Hopefully.   While most hope that the new, though hardly young, king will move his fancy on to some other, more appropriate woman, of whom there are many. Those close to the royal family are bracing themselves for a crisis. Either the king will not pursue Wallis, or he must be made to abdicate. Could the Crown, and by extension, the dominions survive such a blow? Who knows.
