The Grande Mirai theatre troupe
The Grande Mirai theatre troupe, better known as the Grande Mirai, is a traveling theatre that performs different pieces all over Kaigan. They can be recognised by their large burgundy wagon and matching outfits.
Structure
The theatre troupe consists of around ten members. The Grande Mirai is lead by Zalath, a large male goliath, who, besides leading the group, acts as the narrator. Besides Zalath as narrator, the troupe has five actors who perform the various roles on stage, two musicians who play instruments to create an athmosphere, one illusionist who enhances the performance and one stage hand who controls the technique in the wagon.
Not all members are needed for every play or performance so it is quite common for actors or musicians to help with the other aspects of the theatre such as gathering money or helping backstage.
Performances
Most of the performances the Grande Mirai puts up are plays, they depict common stories and fairytales such as Elthor and Amia. These plays are held in the early evenings, often starting just before dusk sets in. The stage will be set up with one of the pre-made backgrounds and props will be hidden behind the curtain. In general the troupe doesn't use a lot of different items or costume changes, sticking to a more basic style and mainly relying on the narrated style, music and magic effects.
In the late morning, or early afternoon, Zalath often holds storytime for kids. There will be a big chair surrounded by pillows on stage and children are allowed to sit on the pillows where Zalath will gather his large tome and read a story.
Setup
All performances of the Grande Mirai are held from their wagon. From the outside it looks like a larger closed of cart and is pulled by two horses. When the troup found a place to put up they will detach the horses and bring them around the back of the cart. Behind the wagon, next to the horses, there will be some tents setup for the crew to sleep in. One of the sides will be detatched and folded fown to make a stage, revealing the inside of the cart which holds the backdrop with a curtain in front of it to hide most of the cart if necessary. Behind the backdrop there is space for the musicians, the illusionist and the stagehand. At night the stage is folded up again and secured.

My favourite image is children's story time with Zalath the goliath. How precious is that?! Really lovely group. I look forward to finding out more about the members. :)
Thank you for the comment! I have such a vivid image in my head about Zalath reading to the children :)
