Havren

Havren An isolationist race of craftsmen and warriors who have carved great citadels into the mountains far above the underdark they used to call their home. From the Citadels rule the Citadel Lords and their grand council who wearily safe guard their sacred refuges from threats above and below. Their craftsmen and artists fill their halls with intraciate machines of war and works of art to show the beauty and destruction metallurgy can bring. Their archetects plan the continued expansion of their defensive network above ground to house the continued growth of their race. Their lesser nobles, merchant lords in their function and Dubbed the Aristocrat Houses fan out establishing trade with surrounding civilizations in an effort to gain prestige leveraging the wealth of the Citadels to aquire exotic goods and works of craftsmanship. The Aristocratic Houses have subdued their surrounding overland neighbors through diplomacy, bribes, mercanaries or trade pressure to ever safeguard their sacred refuges.     Society Havren society is seperated into various casts based on profession. In Havren society mastery of craft is of the highest social import and the most prestegious craft to master are those of craftsmanship. The craftsmen of Havren society push ever onward with what they are capable of aiming to create the best made, most beautiful and intricate designes. This practice has rapidly advanced their humble beginnings of crude many limbed rock bodies to the almost lifelike metalic bodies the Aristocrats wear now to blend in to the social norms of other races, and the great guardians of the citadel, monstrosities of metal cabable of halting enemies of the citadel at great distances. The Havren Citadels are resplendant with statues and works of art displaying the might and culture of the race. Despite the great honor and laurels given unto the craftsment the nominal rulers of the Citadel remain the Citadel lords, nobles and the armies they lead. Due to a constant threat from below the majority of the army and nobles live near the bottom of the Citadels deep down where the constant threat of the underdark keeps the powerful armies of Havren kind ever looking downward. This warrior class spends most time not fighting back the monsters of the deep in training or testing out the new ideas of the engineers to better push back the menace from below. Some of the nobles and soldiers volunteer to be bound to the rites of the Guardians being forever bound to be warmachines protecting the Citadel everlasting past where the madness should have destroyed their minds from age. The Citadel Lords unlike the nobles protect the Havren Citadels as a whole and maintain communication between the citadels to protect them from above and below.     Separate from the Havren of the Citadels the Aristocratic Houses are nobles who operate in the way of merchant lords operating the overland routs between the Citadels and other nations and leveraging their control over the outward flow of goods from the Citadels to establish trade enclaves in the foreign nations. The Havren of Aristocratic Houses are an oddity of Havren kind being the only group brave enough to tempt fate to live outside the walls and interact with the races out in the world outside.
