Xedean Pantheon (ˈZEE-dee-ehn)
Across the human realms of Kadeth , there is a pantheon of gods that is universally recognized. While there may be regional variations, it is generally accepted that there are 12 Major Gods, lead by the God of the Sun, Xedes and his sister, the Goddess of the Moon, Nytris, and at least 12 Minor Gods.
The Gods are said to dwell in the dimension known as Ocith, except for the Gods of the Underworld, Vorldir and Xiton , who dwell in Rahuth, and the Gods banished to walk Kadeth , Vophion the Goddess of Thieving, and Chythos, the God of Vengeance.
It is said that when Iea exploded, some of the shards destined to be gods split, causing siblings. This, they say, is why there are so many pairs of twins in the pantheon.
While the Gods each have a traditional form that they tend to take when showing themselves to mortals, they can, in fact, appear in any guise they choose, and it is generally accepted among theologians that the Gods have no physical gender or species, as mortals do.
In the Academic world, students and teachers alike adopt the signature colors of the god of their purview, whether full colored robes or merely a stole or sash: crimson for magic students, saffron for law, bright green for medical studies, deep purple for students of divination and astrology, gold and brown for crafting and smithing, black for military students, and dark blue for liberal arts.
