9 Spoimold
Name: Spoimold
Descendant of: Blugi Blight
Description: Has strong waxy roots that spread out over and into soil, providing structural support, housing for microbial symbiotes that provide digestive enzymes, and express transport for digested fluid and absorption of nutrients. Branching out of these roots is the hyphae. Roots and hyphae can parallel link, forming a network rather than simply a branching "tree". It's primary habitat and food are plants growing in wet coastal and brackish conditions in warm climates.
A few of the microbial symbiotes migrate up channels inside the fruiting bodies and occupy vacant pockets in special feminized spore cells, ready to seed the next generation of Spoimold with the symbiotes.
From a macroscopic view they look like tiny brown stalks sprouting from the decomposing plant material. These are the fruiting bodies. They shed their fine spores to tiny wind currents in the air.
Reproduction: Fruiting bodies cast off spores to the sea or wind. Spores can be sexual or asexual.
Food: Land plants (e.g. Redroot, Greenair, Brisgi, Blalgi)
