Description: It's vegetative tissue doesn't grow so densely, the cells use extracellular fibres to hold themselves into a three-dimensional net that allows more light to pass into it's inner layers. This net structure also traps bubbles which help it float near the surface of the water.
Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and fragmentation (clones) but will ocasionally produce asexual spores.
