41 Duchroslil

Name: Duchroslil   Descendant of: Slilcrumb   Description: Different pigments can express on different parts of the duchroslil patch depending on the situation of that part of the patch. Darker patches indicate a richer assortment of photosynthetic pigments that work in shade. These darker areas are found under permanent shadows (not transient shadows) such as under the eave of a rock or under other ground plants that cover the duchroslil all day round. The orange, yellow and sometimes olive green parts of the spread appear during the day on parts of the plant that are exposed to direct sun or only transient shadow.   The sand-dune pattern of the duchroslil patch gives more photosynthetic surface area and more angles to receive light when the sun is low in the sky. At the peaks of these ridges spores are produced and released into the air.   Like it's ancestor it can survive desiccation and become brittle and crumble when desiccated. Even when reduced to a fine powder of fragments only a few cells in size, each fragment can reanimate when given water. A powder of desiccated fragments spread on the ground and watered will cause duchroslil to appear all over the ground after some time given to grow. Also like their ancestor they're not tolerant of frequent submersion, so are kept at bay from the edges of freshwater sources.   Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and fragmentation and flaking (clones) but will occasionally produce asexual spores.   Food: Photosynthesis   Land Locations: 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 34 (All: Land)
