38 Capillalgi
Name: Capillalgi
Descendant of: Redgi
Description: It's loosely bundled hair-like strands grow across surfaces such as rock or sand, anchoring into soft sediment or pores and bubbles in rocks. Towards the ends the strands become more separated and frayed. On a microscopic level it appears like hair with each strand being around the same width but with a branching structure rather than linear. On land it's hair-like structure traps water storing a supply for times when there is an absence of any. It can also tolerate drying for a time.
This is a genus for which there are a few different species. Aquatic species tend to be more red, while land species have fewer red and purple pigments showing the lighter caritinoids and green chlorophylls.
Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and fragmentation (clones) but will ocasionally produce asexual spores fron thin whitish-yellow hair-like stalks that stand upright perpendicular to the rest of the growth.
