31 Splaybub

Name: Splaybub   Descendant of: Spibub   Description: In history, rafts that drifted into the central equatorial gyre usually became too battered and broken by tropical storms to survive. That or rafts became too tangled in the chaos of transitioning between polar and subtropical seas, making bacterial rots a huge problem.   It evolved symbiosis with Tinnocean that consumes the dead but relies on the living component of the plant as a floating island for shelter and stable sub-surface habitation. Keeps rafting and sprawling like it's ancestor, but have a rapid cleanup crew at the ready to dispose of post-storm damage to prevent rot, and be highly regenerative so that surviving fragments bounce back with a vengeance and form whole new rafts. Storm damage assists propagation instead of being a blight.   Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and fragmentation (clones) but will occasionally produce asexual spores from the very outmost edges of their cloudy and ribbony foliage.   Food: Photosynthesis   Ocean Locations: 7 (Epipelagic-Abyssopelagic Column), 8 (Epipelagic-Abyssopelagic Column) Land Locations: None
