29 Thichread
Name: Thichread
Descendant of: Thichair
Description: Their bony strands grow in branches. They allow theor own branches to lean against each other for support, collectively gaining support from one another. This allows them to colonize rocks in rough seas, forming a coarse scrubby twiggy texture on rocks. In many places the branches remain small especially where they are frequently damaged, but are hardy. They grow in the direction away from frequent damage and thicken their bony structure with regrowth the more it is damaged.
Shorter communities might have branches only a few millimetres long, but in calmer environments their branches can reach 20cm long.
Reproduction: Fragmentation of anchor base tissues (but not branch structures), older plants produce massive volumes and quantities of asexual spores.
