Description: Cells clump onto and grow into sand and silt on the seafloor in areas sheltered from the waves by reefs. The foliage cells grow in rows like long hair and can get as long as 150cm. They link up horizontally at irregular intervals to prevent tangling. Most new growth occurs from the bottom up. Spore production occurs at the ends of the strands.
Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and fragmentation of the ground tissues (clones) but will also often produce asexual spores.
