15 Mucarrot

Species author: @Coolkuy
Name: Mucarrot (owner Coolkuy)   Descendant of: Mucimold   Description: A simple fungus-like organisms that parasitizes soft-bodied organisms. Its life starts out as a spore released after digestion of the fruit, pre-packaged with a flagellum and a shark beak-like appendage (that eventually is dissected off) which helps it destroy cells and lets it find a good place to land. It will then grow its mycellium all throughout the body and decomposes the organism, with 4-5 other siblings.   When the host dies, the mycellium will start to grow at the top and create both sexual and asexual fruiting bodies (which, like its name suggests, look vaguely like Terran carrots.) While fruiting bodies releasing sexual spores act exactly like its ancestor, the asexual ones are different, instead release the fruiting bodies themselves onto the seafloor. The fruiting bodies are very small and very enticing to animals, so their is a high chance of an animal finding it and eating it whole. When it is, it will then release its spores, which will grow inside the animal and kill it. This highly increases the chance that the spores will find a suitable host, while also using the old system for sexual ones too just incase the situation makes it so that the old system is more advantageous.   Reproduction: Sexual and Asexual spores. Sexual fruiting bodies release sexual spores that are cast off to the sea. Asexual fruiting bodies release themselves to be eaten by prey and then releases spores.   Food: Live soft-bodied animals (e.g. descendants of Enzastro, Gascoop, Nerstric)   Ocean Locations: 2 (Shallow, Deep) Land Locations: 2 (Coast), 3 (Coast)
