Tu Shen

Once a man, his name and titles have been lost to history. Now he's only remembered for his devotion to his lover, for whom he faced down the emperor of the Jiangshan, and spent years cultivating in order to ascend to immortality, and to be reunited with him.

Tu Shen is not widely worshipped but is quite well known throughout the Jiangshan despite this. For this reason, it is believed that he spreads his own legend, in order to reach those who need him.

Cultural Reception

Despite its many peoples, the dominant culture of the Jiangshan greatly emphasises the importance of family and lineage. Despite this, Tu Shen is not reviled. So long as there are marriages to ensure the family lineage, extramarital relationships are not looked down upon, no matter who those involved in the relationship are.
