Hurskfjell

The Harsh Mountain is a place of heroes and strife. The ice comes to life, consuming the living for wronging their father. Legendary men learn how to harness the power of ice, and stride through the mountain half naked. Wolves devour the unaware, claiming revenge for what happened to their ancestors. In the center of it all, the wyrm Vitr sleeps in a lake, waiting to consume the entire mountain.
It is a place of daring and danger. A place which will elevate hetja, and throw down the unprepared.

Geography

The Hursfjellian Mountain Range, or Hurskfjell, takes up the northern quarter of Ji-Wei. It starts in a steppe known as the Low Climes , then goes into an ever higher mountain, until it ends with the Ice Veil to the far north.
To the east is the ocean and to the west, the mountain range tapers down to become the northern physical border of the Sankive Forest.

Fauna & Flora

Hurskfjell has several unique flora in comparison to other high altitude mountain ranges. There are several species of flower which are made from ice, or are eternally frozen. Those with ice leaves, often times grow up to make puffs of what looks to be snow. When the flower is ready, the spores explode in a puff, spreading the flower's seeds. Most of these flowers, the petals originally grow to resemble creatively designed snowflakes.
There are two species of trees which are made of ice. One looks like a deciduous tree, most commonly resembling the maple tree. The trunk is a blue wood which is very tough to get through. However, once exposed to heat, it becomes mushy. It bends easily, but it is also very tough. The leaves are ice. In wind storms, the leaves can gain enough force and are sharp enough to cut.
The second is a thing, ice trunk, with a few fragile looking limbs, similar to a willow. The leaves are bulbs, like tear drops. There are very few per tree. Cooked, these tear drops turn into a highly nutritious broth.
Shalf is a small flower found throughout Hurskfjell. It releases a spore that, when inhaled, puts victims to sleep. Most victims fall asleep outside, where they enter a fantastic dream land and die from exposure. The wealthy cultivate this, inhaling the drug to intentionally go to the land of dreams. Everything mimics loosely the real world, and is easily manipulated by the will of those present. Anyone who takes shalf goes to the same realm, so it is believed to be more than a simple dream.
Eiss Creatures make up most of the unique fauna. They very in size, from dog to mountain size. They are made of a dark blue ice, called Eiss . It is highly durable, doesn't melt, and makes excellent armor and weapons. The mountain sized creatures are called Behemoths. Some passes through Hurskfjell are rumored to be the paths of these Behemoths.
There is also the unique Hurskfjellian stag. While there are doe as well, the doe look just like any other deer. The stags, however, stand a little taller and stronger. Their antlers are also made of Eiss. It is said they are the offspring of previous eiss creatures, before Vitr loathed men. There are other variations, but the stag is the most common, as it can breed with common doe.

Natural Resources

The unique resources to the mountain are as follows:
Eiss is an eternal ice. It is dark blue in color. The durability makes it very difficult to forge, and it can only be chipped at. Intense heat can melt the eiss, but once it turns to water, there is no returning it to eiss. The resource can be found in chunks out in nature, but most commonly it is found on Eiss Creatures and Behemoths. The eiss will give frostbite exceedingly quickly, and drains on the emotions as well. Properly made, it creates incredible armor and weapons.
Adamant are massive diamond clusters. These diamonds are large enough to become breastplates, shields, and weapons. They are also common enough that people can afford it. While it has a different name, it otherwise functions the same as diamonds.
Shalf, the drug, is commonly harvested and refined for recreational use. In the far north, it is extremely easy to cultivate.
Metals of all types are found in great abundance on the mountain. More raw mineral and metal is held in the mountain range than throughout the rest of Ji-Wei.
