Basella

Basella is the matron of forests, farmlands, and life itself. Although more prominently worshipped in rural lands, her name is invoked at mealtimes and the birth of children. A common form of worship is to grow plants from seeds in her name, whether they are crops or decorative plants. Those who find her blessings receive bountiful harvests, livestock and children grow healthy and strong, and crops are hardier than ever.   Temples to Basella maintain a great body of lore about farming and cultivation. Her priests work closely with communities in rural areas, whether as assistants to farmers, or as midwives.

Tenets of Faith

As the essence of life itself, Basella is unable to withhold life from those who displease her. Instead, communities who earn her wrath might find themselves overrun by vermin, fungus, or dire beasts. Worst of all, tales say that creatures such as otyughs and beholders were created from Basella’s darkest hours, when diseases themselves were given life and shape.
