Elves & Alcohol

Due to the fact that elves can get alcohol poisoning really easily (2-3 drinks will take them down - and when I say drinks, I mean 2-3 shots and anything more than a single average strength beer), the elves have their own "alcoholic" beverages.   There are certain poisons that elves can safely ingest that other species would die horrific deaths if they got ahold of them. Due to this fact, bars and caverns and PUBs that serve elves will often make elves prove that they're elves through special marks on identification cards in order to ensure they won't get sued or something for a non-elf ingesting said poisons and dying.   There are several different kinds of liquors/poisons that have been created for elves to be able to have alcohol-like responses and be able to enjoy a drink when out at the bar with friends. Below are these drinks, how elves react to them and what kind of deaths they cause for other species.   The first such drink is called Luisae (LOO-EE-SAY). This drink is bright yellow in color, think like you're drinking a highlighter. It is very bitter but addictive in flavor if you enjoy bitter drinks. This poison will cause an elf to become content and affectionate. Often times when an elf gives drunken confessions of love, it is after drinking some Luisae. After all, even the most reserved elf will lighten up and no longer be completely held back from saying "I love you" once they have consumed this beverage.   Luisae also causes a pleasant tingling sensation along the elf's entire body, which makes kissing and holding hands feel a hundred times better than normal. Cuddling is heavenly under the influence of this poison.   The luisae, when ingested by any other species, causes intense dizziness which makes the drinker exhausted and nauseated. They fall asleep under the influence of this poison and never wake up. There is no antidote for it.   Next I'd like to talk about Rusta (ROO-STUH). Rusta is a bright blue poison (look up color code #00FFEF - that's almost exactly the shade I picture) that causes rowdiness in elves and for otherwise quiet ones to become much more of chatterboxes. Rusta is known by the elf community as the "Poison of Truth" because it causes all inhibition to be dropped, allowing elves to truly speak their mind without holding back. This poison is a popular one among elves that hate how reserved they feel but are too nervous to be real with the people they care about. If they want to be truthful but they find that they just can't, they'll drink Rusta when trying to express things that are otherwise difficult for them to talk about.   Rusta is among the least painful of the Elven poisons, as it causes an odd sensation in the body (the senation is different for each species) and causes them to foam at the mouth and almost instantly drop dead. There is no antidote for Rusta.   Next I'd like to discuss Kumir (KOO-MEE-R). Kumir is a bright green drink, think like pickle juice. It actually can be mistaken for pickle juice if someone doesn't know what they're looking at, so people have to be very careful to lable Kumir, as the death it causes for non-elves is anything but pleasant.   Kumir is very similar in effect to tequila - clothes often drop, sex is had and many, many babies have been conceived under the influence of this poison. Elves get giggle fits that last almost the entire time of influence and similar to weed, they won't be able to stop and will laugh at just about anything.   The affects for other species is anything but pleasurable. It's odd that a poison that reacts in such a positive and fun way for elves has such a dire affect on other species, but the other species will have explosive diarrhea and/or vomitting until they die of dehydration. As they won't be able to keep any liquids down, this death is inevitable. There is no antidote for this poison as of yet.   The next poison on the list is one called Luuha (LOO-HAH). Luuha is a bright orange drink (the closest code I could find to the color I picture is #FFBF00) that causes uncontrollable rage in elves, and often leads to elves picking bar fights. This is the drink to have if you want to get aggression out or if you want to be more expressive over your anger, but elves have to be careful because that anger can boil into rage at the drop of a hat. The phrase "don't cry over spilled milk" would be perfect for elves under this drink's influence if only it wouldn't further enrage them.   Many bars won't carry Luuha, as many species - elves and otherwise - have been hospitalized because of those under its influence. Many elves are incredibly strong and/or powerful, as many elves are mages and have powerful abilities that could easily kill another - and when drunk off of Luuha, it can be difficult for them to control their urges to hospitalize the ones that have set off their anger, no matter how small whatever angered them was.   On a less emotional side of Luuha's effects, it also causes elves to see colors that other species are unable to see. It isn't just a hallucination. The drink actually opens up their eyes to seeing colors inconceivable by the naked, sober eye. Many elves get addicted to this drink either due to the adrenaline rush of getting into fights or because of this color effect.   When other species drink Luuha, it disables them due to how intense the pain of the slow death is and is often used into poison darts, as it is so effective in disabling one's enemies.   Next up is the final old-timey elven drink called Hoopa (HOO-PUH). Hoopa is a bright pink drink, similar to the shade of pink lemonade. This is another drink that bars need to be especially careful with since if they offer anything with pink lemonade-colored liquids, they could be mistaken for each other. Hoopa, just like Kumir, has to be very carefully labeled in any place that offers it.   Hoopa becomes addictive to elves with sleeping disorders or general sleeping issues, as it causes an elf to instantly fall asleep. Not in a bad way, they just get instantly tired enough to fall asleep. Obviously, bars don't want their patrons just passing out at their establishments, so this poison is usually not offered in bars unless they offer carry out options for any elves that wish to take it home and guarantee they won't drink it at the bar itself.   Hoopa is similar to Luisae in that it causes the other species to fall asleep, but the process of falling asleep is intensely painful and uncomfortable. During the process of the poison taking over the body and making it shut down in a horrifically painful way, every vein in the drinker's body will turn black.   This effect does also occur to an elf but for them, it isn't painful and in fact is rather pleasurable.   There are no antidotes for any of the elven poisons.   There are two more drinks I wish to talk about, but these were created by one of my characters himself. His name is Duncan and he is the son of two extremely powerful elven mages.   The first is a multi-colored drink called Massuh (MASS-UH). Its colors change depending on the light you're under, but the color is always a rich, deep shade, so it can easily be distinguished from the other elven poisons, as they are all brightly colored.   Duncan created his 2 poisons to be able to drink with his friends, who are different species than him, so unlike all of the other elven alcohols, his can be ingested by species other than elves, though they are still very specific species that can drink them. With this in mind, Massuh can only be ingested by witches and elves, as one of the men Duncan got closest to was a witch and he wanted to make a drink he could share with the man that helped him so much (and taught him about his parents, who he was too young to remember when they died).   Massuh causes the drinker to have a euphoric high and absolute contentment in the moments under its influence. This euphoric feeling can become addictive and those going through traumatic situations or just general times they are unhappy with can easily become addicted to this poison. The other effect that is causes you to become relaxed and loose and all of your body's tension to melt away can also be addictive for those with intense anxiety. It can also cause you to confess things you otherwise would never say to someone. You want to confess your feelings for someone you've been crushing on for years but have been too afraid to confess? Drink some Massuh - as long as you're an elf or a witch. Any other species would die instantly.   Duncan has also created an antidote for his poison, but you have to do it immediately upon consumption or it'll be too late.   The other poison Duncan created is similar in color to Massuh, but most of the time, it takes on the shade and color of dark whiskeys. It also tastes similar to whiskey, only it has a tanginess to it on top of the bitterness.   This poison is called Shaah (SH-AH). It causes its vampiric or elven drinkers to become curious and content. They may ask questions about things they otherwise wouldn't care to know and would be absolutely enthralled by the answers. It also causes the drinkers to open up more freely about things they previously perhaps kept locked inside and will cause them to speak about deeper topics than they normally would, without inhibition.   Shaah also causes those under its influence to be a little more chatty than normal. Maybe the drinker is normally reserved and quiet, well, under this drink's influence, even the most reserved vampires & elves would open up and speak more freely. The sensation that is caused under its influence is warm. Your insides get warm and you feel content with the world surrounding you and your life situations.   Finally, if an elven mage drinks Shaah, it actually ehances their abilities, which is great for practicing abilities or trying a new type of magic that you otherwise don't have enough power to do.   This poison also has an antidote created by Duncan, but you have to drink it within 60 minutes if you want to survive. The effects start to kick in after about 15-30 minutes, depending on the one that drinks it and will be permanent once they begin, so one has to drink the antidote within 15 minutes if they don't want permanent effects.   And that is all of the elven liquors that I have created. One day, I will perhaps make more, but for now, that is it (other than the beers that Duncan and his partner have made together).
